Good afternoon, Dolphin Families! This is Principal Harley with your weekly updates.
We’ve had another fantastic week of teaching and learning, and we are thrilled about what’s ahead in March! One of our most exciting initiatives is the launch of our Accelerated Vocabulary Family Kickoff to help prepare scholars for the End-of-Grade Tests. Families will receive a weekly vocabulary list, and we’ll host Call-In Sessions, where families can call in with the correct vocabulary answer for a chance to become our Vocabulary Champion of the Week! We love partnering with our families in learning, and scholars will bring home more details on Monday.
Here’s what’s coming up this month:
📅 March 14th – Our 2nd & 3rd Grade scholars will attend the Ballet at ECC, and our Robotics Team will compete in the Brick City Engineer Challenge.
📅 March 18th – Our PTO Meeting begins at 5:30 PM, followed by Parent & Family Engagement Night at 6:00 PM. This also marks the end of the 3rd grading period.
📅 March 25th – Report cards will be sent home with scholars.
📅 March 27th – Join us for Literacy with a Loved One, featuring Mother Figures, at 7:30 AM. That evening, the district’s STEM Night will take place at SouthWest Edgecombe High School from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
📅 March 28th – Optional Teacher Workday – No school for scholars.

We were honored to welcome Judge Wendy Hazelton, the first Black judge in Pitt County, as our special guest speaker. She inspired our Dolphins to persevere and write their own stories!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to celebrate Read Across America Week next week, where we’ll focus on the joy of reading. Stay tuned for more details!
